Lamp ban

Lamp ban

After halogen lamps, fluorescent tubes are now also being banned. With mercury-free LED lamps, however, there are already good, energy-efficient alternatives without pollutants. The sales ban will apply to compact fluorescent lamps and ring lights from February 2023 and to fluorescent tubes from August 2023.

What is called “phasing out” is nothing more than a gradual ban on the sale of lamps due to stricter guidelines. The phase-out has now gained additional momentum with the RoHS Directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic Equipment). It prohibits – with a few exceptions – the use of mercury in light bulbs for reasons of health and environmental protection.

Thus, the lack of energy efficiency of old lamps is no longer the sole argument for switching to more environmentally friendly and efficient LED lamps.
